Opening the Ban Nam Gnone bypass road

On 2 May, Phu Kham opened the new Ban Nam Gnone bypass road for all Phu Bia Mining (PBM) logistics and passenger transport between Phu Kham and Ban Houayxai Operations.

A risk assessment conducted in early 2023 identified the risks and hazards of PBM vehicle interaction with residents in the village of Nam Gnone. Construction of the bypass road commenced in February 2023.

The new bypass road is 1.656 kilometres long and 11 metres wide, and starts from Phu Kham’s existing Mine Access at the Go line security area, then runs south towards the existing Light Industrial Area (LIA), crosses the Express Highway and exits to a public road.

All Phu Bia Mining logistics and passenger transportation enroute to the Natou barge and boat port between Phu Kham and Ban Houayxai Operations will use the bypass road without going through the village, increasing the safety of local villagers.
