The Livelihood Sustainability Department was established to deliver and manages Phu Bia Mining’s Community Development Fund (CDF) for improving and sustaining the host communities’ living standards beyond the Life of Mine (LOM).
Phu Bia Mining’s CDF is focused on six key development sectors:
Agriculture – Sustainable Livelihoods Program (SLP)
Educational development
Health, clean water and sanitation
Community Infrastructure
Access to finance and small business development
Capacity building for local agencies
In parallel with our mining operations in Laos, over the past decade, our CDF has significantly contributed, developed and improved the living standards of our local communities where we operate.
From 2005 to 2022, a total of 436 community development projects have been implemented and completed in our six development sectors, located within the 26 hosting communities, in seven districts in the three provinces (Xaysomboun, Bolikhamxay and Vientiane) where we operate. Our CDF program has invested a total of US$4,945,772 to date. For more details to click here on CDF reports and materials. Recently, the investment in CDF has doubled allowing Phu Bia Mining to create many more sustainable projects directly benefitting local communities in Xaysomboun Province both now and beyond Phu Bia Mining’s life of mine.
